In groups of no more that 2 people chose 2 of the following design problems. Work through the design portfolio work sheet and create solutions for each problem.
Robotics Ball Transportation
Design and build a robot that will transport a tennis ball through a course as fast as possible.
Criteria
- No flammables/explosives/accelerants
- Completion of the track is mandatory
Backhoe
Design and build a backhoe arm that will scoop up at least 2 cubic centimeters of dirt and place it 1 foot away from where the dirt came from.
- No flammables/explosives/accelerants
- Must be powered by Pneumatics or hydraulics
- Grading based on completion of the task
Can Crusher
Design a pneumatic machine that will crush 1 pop can.
- No flammables/explosives/accelerants
- Must be powered by Pneumatics or hydraulics
- Grading based on completion of the task
Robotics lift
Design and build a robot that will move one of the old coaster cars 3 feet horizontally and then place it on the seat of a chair.

Dump Truck
Design and build dump truck that will dump a 20 pound load of dirt.
- No flammables/explosives/accelerants
- Must be powered by Pneumatics or hydraulics
- Grading based on completion of the task
Low Rider
Design and build a car that can jump.
- No flammables/explosives/accelerants
- Must be powered by Pneumatics or hydraulics
- Grading based on completion of the task
Bridge
Design and build a bridge that spans 30, is 15cm off the ground and will open to let a boat through that is 25cm high.
